
Mike Zuckerman,Director of Sustainability for Zen Compound/Temple Nightclub/Prana
As Director ofSustainability for the 40K square foot entertainment complex in SOMA that includes Temple Nightclub, Prana Restaurant and Temple Music Group, Zuckerman's work revolves around minimizing the carbon footprint and driving community development and awareness to Green minds and businesses.
Zuckerman works to reduce the Zen Compound's negative environmental impact through technology and business innovation, government programs and collaboration with political,non-profit and business leaders to build a community to support similar effortsthroughout the industry.
The Zen Compound has identified and implemented reductions in energy, waste and water, saving thecompany $20,000/year in waste bills alone - savings that can be achieved in allvenues in San Francisco. In addition, the company has been working closely withSF Environment, the SF Chamber of Commerce, the Mayors office, PG&E and NorCal Waste, Zuckerman has been involved in the layout of a plan to reduce thenegative impacts of bars, restaurants and nightclubs.
Zuckerman served onthe original Advisory Board of the Business Council on Climate Change, a UN Global Compact project and he is currently working with the City of Johannesburg, South Africa in accomplishing their sustainable goals for the upcoming 2010 FIFA World Cup and is a co-founder of Greenlaces.org.
Zuckerman beganworking at Zen Compound in 2006. Previously, he was involved in several green building organizations in San Francisco and
Israel.
